Geography


Fiji's location: Latitude 12° - 21°S Longitude 176°E - 178°W. sSituated in the tropics of the Southern Hemisphere. Fiji and it's 300 islands have a total land area of 18,272 square kms.

Only about 100 of the islands are inhabited, the rest are nature reserves. The majority of people live on the two main islands of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.

Climate


The Mamanuca's bask in the sun for most of the year. The temperatures average 32°C in the summer and 27°C in the winter. The 13 islands feel the influence of the Trade Winds which makes for a pleasant all round temperature.


Money


Fiji uses its own dollar and cent monetary system (F$). 

At the Airport
Nadi Airport has a 24-hour ANZ bank as well as an ATM machine.
On Malolo
The Funky Fish Resort charges 5% Bank Transaction Fee on all payments made via Master Card and Visa. Travellers cheques are also accepted.
Departure Tax
When leaving Fiji expect to pay F$75 departure tax. Free for under 12 years.

English is spoken by most locals however the Fijian language is still used.
